This is the first recorded labor strike in human history. It was a highly organized labor dispute by skilled government contractors demanding their back pay. And they won.
The vizier scrambled to secure a partial payment, and the workers went back to the tombs. But the psychological damage was done. As the New Kingdom slowly collapsed, the economy tanked completely.

Their kings, the black pharaohs of the 25th dynasty, eventually conquered and ruled Egypt. And when they returned to their homeland in Nubia, they took the pyramid with them. Long after Egypt had completely given up on pyramids, the Nubians started building them.
